How to Make Kratom Tea : The Complete Guide for Beginners

KRATOM TEA: HOW TO PREPARE

Kratom has been in existence for hundreds of years. The smart guys over there in Southeast Asia have been enjoying this incredible herb for centuries. Meanwhile, the western world has only recently got onto the Kratom bandwagon.

Over the years, Kratom has been used in different ways. If you don’t know, Kratom is a highly beneficial herb that is extracted from Kratom trees that grow in the Southeast Asia region. Most of the Kratom available in the market today is in the form of powder. To some people, toss and wash is their favorite method of taking Kratom. It helps to get the Kratom alkaloids into the system pretty quickly and hence there isn’t a lot of time wasted in waiting for the impact to hit. It’s also a relatively fast method of taking Kratom.

Sadly, Kratom is a lot of things, but good taste is not one of them. The herb has one of the most terrible tastes you’ll ever come across. This can make your experience unbearable, and unfortunately, there is no way around the taste when using the toss and wash method. Another popular method of consuming Kratom is through capsules. This is an ingenious strategy as it completely shields you from the unpalatable taste of Kratom. It isn’t without its pitfalls though key of which is sometimes you’ll probably end up taking a lot of capsules to achieve a somewhat regular dose. Kratom capsules are also quite expensive.

So, what exactly does Kratom tea has to offer? How is Kratom tea better than the current methods?

The first thing you need to know is that Kratom tea is one of the most ancient methods of taking Kratom. Some reports even suggest that it might have been the first method of taking Kratom even though some evidence shows that the first people to use the herb used just to chew the leaves. Anyway, none of that matters, the important thing is to know how exactly you can make your Kratom tea to get the best out of it. Remember that Kratom gets its potency from alkaloids found in the herb. Therefore, you need to be extra careful in how you are making the tea because, at high temperatures, the alkaloids can be destroyed, and this would make the tea rather useless.

How to make Kratom Tea?

There are various methods of making Kratom tea. People have their own favorite recipes, most of which usually work just fine. However, if you are looking for the best Kratom experience, then “just fine” is not good enough for you. You need a recipe that will retain as many alkaloids as possible. This will make sure that you are getting all the benefits you want at the desired intensity.

It’s also common practice to mix Kratom tea with certain sweeteners to make them more pleasant to the taste buds. It’s essential to choose this flavor carefully to ensure that it does not interfere with the chemical composition and potency of your Kratom.

With that said here are our main recipes for making Kratom tea.

Method 1

I’m going to assume that you are the kind that wants to spend less time preparing their tea and more of time enjoying it. It’s for that reason that I’ve prepared this super easy method that will have you enjoying your tea in less than 20 minutes.

Here is what you need to pull it off:

  • Kratom powder or leaf
  • Teapot
  • Water
  • Teabags (can be opened or empty)
  • Lemon

First, you need to pour the water into the teapot and boil it. As the boiling is taking place, you can pick up the empty tea bags and place your Kratom powder or leaf into them. Some people also use tea balls which works just as fine. The water should be boiled by the time you’re done filling the Kratom powder into the tea bags. Therefore, you can switch off the kettle and let the water cool down for around two minutes. As this is happening, you can place your Kratom tea bags into the thermos or mug. Take the water and pour it into your thermos or mug through the Kratom tea bags. You can then squeeze some lemon into the mug, swirl it for a moment and your Kratom tea is ready just like that.

Instead of placing the Kratom tea bags into your mug or thermos, you can also toss them into the boiling water directly. However, doing so will mean babysitting the water because you have to make sure that it does not get too hot to destroy the powder/leaves.

Method 2

This method requires the following items:

  • Kratom powder or leaves
  • A reasonably sized pot
  • Around 1l of water
  • Cheesecloth

The first step here is to boil the water in the pot but not the traditional kind of boiling. You want a warm boil that is decent enough to make excellent tea without harming the alkaloids. Proceed to add the desired amount of the Kratom leaves into the pot. You should then simmer the mixture for around 10-20 minutes.

Once you are done simmering, you can pour the contents of the pot into a container but through the cheesecloth. You could also use a mesh strainer here. Some people use Kratom leaves only once, which is understandable if you subject them to a prolonged steeping session. However, if your steeping is usually moderate, then you can use the leaves to prepare your Kratom tea twice or even thrice.

One advantage of Kratom tea over the toss n wash method is that you can decide how your tea will taste. This is usually done in the form of sweeteners such as honey, lemon, maple syrup, or agave among many others.

Method 3

Here, we are going to use:

  • Kratom powder
  • Water
  • Lemon juice
  • Strainer

Weigh the right amount of Kratom powder or strain you want to use and put it in a slightly big mug or moderately sized container. Inside the mug/container, add lemon juice and stir the mixture until the Kratom dissolves into the natural lemon juice fully. Take note that if you are using Kratom leaves, then you will not be in a position to dissolve the Kratom completely.

Once the Kratom has dissolved – this might take some time – go ahead and add boiling water into the mug. Again, make sure that the water is not too hot. It doesn’t really matter how much water you add so long as you were keen on the amount of Kratom you included. However, most people just add moderate amounts of water as it keeps the tea tasting good.

After adding water into the mug, stir the mixture a few more times to create the perfect blend. You can then pour the mixture into your drinking cup or mug. You can use a strainer while pouring the tea in case you were using Kratom leaves. That wouldn’t be necessary if you used Kratom powder because you’ll have to make sure that it completely dissolves when mixing it with lemon juice.

Final Thoughts

There are so many reasons why you would want to take your Kratom through Kratom tea. Not only does it taste better, but using sweeteners such as lemon juice can actually improve how your body absorbs the Kratom alkaloids. That’s because the alkaloids will dissolve into the citric acid and once in your body, more of the alkaloids will be absorbed plus they’re also protected from enzymes. This translates to better and prolonged results.

Therefore, I’ll urge you to go ahead and try out making your Kratom tea today. You can turn this into a ritual that will add up to your ultimate Kratom experience. You can try out any or all of the above methods to find one that works perfectly for you. You can also tell us of some of the exciting techniques you’re using to make your tea.
